Players without widescreen monitors may still run widescreen mode by selecting both WIDESCREEN and WINDOWED in options but desktop resolution should be AT LEAST 1280x800. Wide screen mode requires extra video ram so may not be available on older (or very low spec) hardware. Also increases the field of view for race sequence. Improves appearance on wide-screen monitors (avoids 'stretching') and also gives more space for menus.
